A cute tradition that I read about . Wrap up the christmas story books ( that you can read in one setting) your old and some new. Every night starting Dec. 1rst the kids open one book and you read it together as a family. we are going to do it this year. Treydon had his eval yesterday and I was really excited to talk to the man doing it after. He says Treydon has a lot of potential and that by the time he is a young man it may not be apparent to people that he is autistic. We have to teach him copeing skills etc. For example they said we HAVE to teach him to say. I can only follow one instruction at a time. And right now we have to concentrate on giving him words. We have to make him a bunch of pictures on a card with the word on it so if he can't find the word he can show you the picture. And its better if the picture is Treydon holding or doing it. Also they talked about social stories which I didn't think he needed because he just goes with the flow no problem but when it was explained to me it made sense. For instance when someone says field trip to the fire station what do you do? I see a school bus with kids on it and the firetruck at the station. Treydon doesn't. He just goes on the bus cause everyone is. So we do a social story where we show him a bus and tell him abut the field trip and show him a fire engine and have it marked on the calender and show him so he can sorta get a picture in his mind. Does that make sense ? I want to write this down while its fresh to me so I don't forget. I didn't think he needed the picture because his aid and i know what he wants but it was explianed that this will help Treydon and expand his word use and be able to comunicate with other people. This is a really short version but will remind me of what we talked about. Also they all laughed when I asked how to get him to sit still in church for an hour. They said that was beyound his capibilites and would just be very frustrating for him and me.But he does okay most of primary. Only thing its an hour to church so its hard to take him only for part of it. But it will really take the frustration out of Sundays for me.

Warning you may not want to read this because I am just going to be whining. I hate depression!!! I hate knowing the symtons and taking the meds and doing what I think I need to be doing and having it cast a gray gloom over everything I am doing! When i think about my life right now things are going rather smoothly. My adult sons are enjoying spending time with each other ( which at one point in their young lifes I wondered if they ever would :-). And i see the five youngest in a circle on the floor playing together. And I really enjoy doing and making stuff for christmas. I do- I really do, I just wish I had someone to discuss, ponder, deliberate etc over what I am buying or making. But over top all this hangs this black cloud like in that cartoon where the cloud follows the little guy around. AND I HATE IT!!! I want to enjoy what I am doing.
Today Treydon gets an evaluation. I am really excilted. I went to a parent meeting where this guy was talking and I learned more from it than the courses I took. And he is going to come and just be with Treydon in his normal school day and then talk to me.
Lynn I really like your christmas token for your ward. I think I may steal ( with your permission) the idea and do it for the members in Hanna. Because we only have few members in Hanna we are either their home teachers or they are ours ( or both!) and visiting teachers. I am excited about it.

One of my favorite peices I painted when i was doing ceramics. Lately I have really been wishing there was a place here to do ceramics. I put christmas decorations up today. I have really really been missing having a sister, friend or NIECE to do christmas with. Just to plan, scheme discuss and make things with. It really is no fun doing it all alone.
I like collecting nativity sets.
Close up of our stockings

A decoration my sister in law Melodie made for me. She is very musical.

And the stockingas were all hung!! Last year we had 7 more hanging here!

My missionary to be????

Colt shaved his head for his hunting trip.
Colt made this nativity set for me when he was in cub scouts!

He told us that the branch President on Sunday said he couldn't go on a mission with that hair cut. He was just teasing his mom because I am so gullible.

I always wanted to put this on my van

The pump to our well for the house went out just at the end of the birthday party Friday night. Ed spent all day saterday digging around the well hole and phoning suppliers. Got the pump out late saterday nite. Luckily we have a water tank and Ed loaded it on the truck and hauled water so we could flush the toilet and do dishes. Saterday we all went to town and bathed at Ed's mom's. Today we got up late and the bus came early! And of course still no water. Some kids had a hard time finding clean clothes. ( I really don't know why because I do laundry every day!!!) And how is your MOnday?

christmas sewing

Sewing christmas stockings for the two new grandbabies. One is Sadie who was born in March and one for William who just doesn't want to be born! I have made one for all my kids and their spouses and the 7 grandkids and for a good friend of ds's.
I could not find any velvet for the name part of the stockings. I went to a quilt shop and she had no velvet at all- she said try the salvation army and get a dress and I would have plenty of velvet. So I went across the street and there was one velvet dress hanging right in front. It was the only velvet article of clothing in the whole store and it was black!!! I was so lucky.

Some of the webkins Shaylee got.
the pinata

Tashena and cake. Didn't get pictures with her presents coz she went to a dance.

More Birthdays!
