Yesterday was a very emotionally stressful day! We finally got a little snow and a little ice on the roads and a little wind blowing the snow around on the day we are leaving to take Colter to the airport to leave for his mission. We were only a few miles out of Hanna when we were the first on the scene of a head on collision of two PT cruisers. One car was in the ditch nose first on the left side of the road. The other car was on the side of the road on the right hand side. Both were pretty smashed up. Ed and Colter went to the car on the road and came running back asking for any kind of blankets. Usually we have blankets in the car but no go yesterday. Colt dug out two hoodies from his bags, I took my hoodie off and we found a flannel sheet. I was crocheting on a baby blanket and Ed said this was a greater need as he took it too. A little girl was laying on the road between the car and the ditch. She had cuts toher head and obvioulsy a broken leg. We covered her up with what we had. Her mother was on the phone for help. In the other car the woman was pinned in. It seemed forever before other help came. They were going to fly the girl to Calgary for surgery on her leg but couldn't because of weather so our Dr. rode in the ambulance with her. So an hour or so later we were on our way againn in bad weather and crappy roads. We phoned church travel services in Salt Lake City to inform them Colt would not be making the 1:30 flight. In minutes they had him booked on another one at 3:30! We met our Stake President and Colt got set apart. It was a wonderful blessing. Then off to the airport. A few fun pictures ( to follow) and we hugged him goodbye. We had to arrange for someone to be home when the kids got off the bus because we were late. The roads were good on the way home.

A sucessful parent is one who has loved, one who has sacrificed, and one who has cared for, taught and ministered to the needs of a child. If you have done all these and your child is still wayward or troublesome or worldly, it could well be that you are, nevertheless a sucessful parent. (Howard W Hunter)

Perhaps there are children who have come into the world that would CHALLENGE any set of parents under any set of circumstances. Likewise, perhaps there are others who would bless the lives of and be a joy to almost any father or mother.( Howard W Hunter)

Jokes for the day! I was lamenting about being over weight and Colter was complaining about being underweight. I very kindly offered him 20 of my pounds to which he replied he didn't want fat!!!!!

Mckenzie came in one day and weighed herself and said she had lost five pounds. I told her very concerned. " Don't worry I'm sure you will find them!" That is our ongoing joke now.

Notice how fat those envelopes are?
And to add insult he also brought these over! Two layers thick. Does he not know how hard I am working on counting caleries? Not only counting them but trying to keep under 1200 a day?

And he wants me to scrapbook these for him. Does my dear oldest son not know how long it takes to scrapbook?

And more candy for the kids. This is the 2nd time he has brought a bucket over from his halloween candy for my kids to finish off.
And besides his and my scrapbook projects and the patch work quilts I want to finish and being the school treasulrer. I was just called to be the secretary in the Relief Society. I am really looking forward to this because I will get to know the ladies better. But really when is there time to do housework?????

Number 9 grandbaby girl due Aug 4th Ha ha this picture was sent to us when Amy was NOT expecting as a joke!

I was laying out on the floor what I had sewed on the jammie quilt when I realized that I was missing the print from Tashena's last years jammies. I commented to Ed and he was amazed in the over 170 brightly colored squares I knew I was missing one :-) This morning I went and found the material and will cut out some squares very soon and they will be added into the quilt. I have the material for next christmas jammies and I really want to put them into this quilt but I am not going to cut into them yet. Another quilt I guess.

One more thing. I am really curious--- does anyone read this??
I was getting on here to post when the grandkids got dropped off, great excuse for more pictures. Gotta love digital camera's. Kristi- love your wonky stars. Did you read the rules for fabricholics on Judy's blog? I had made a list of my UFO's and today I found out Michael and Amy are having a baby girl so I pulled out a girl quilt ( the strip one I showed way earlier) and decided I needed to add another row. As i was searching through my bins for the matching fabric I found material for another quilt. Another UFO. It is a litle farm scene and I had bought the material to make the top and the cordinating back!!! And I also found a present I had gotten for Treydon for christmas and had forgotten. ( blush) and it wasn't small either. It was a good size pair of race cars (12 inch long) and a launching pad. The boys are sure enjoying it! I started sewing yesterday on my jammie quilt. Also I got the material to a make my grandson Tyson's christmas jammies for this year. It has large hairy spiders on it. LOL He will love it. He had a pet tarantula! Also as I was cleaning my sewing scrapbook Ta'merra's bedroom I found two packages of balloons with BOY on it that I had bought for Misty and Williams baby shower. We had the baby shower a while ago and I completely forgot about the balloons.
Look how well Sadie is walking now!!
This really doesn't show up what a shiner Justin has!
